Nothing seems to stir up nostalgia like the sight of a Gibson Flying V... Here is your chance to snatch up a 2001 Gibson '67 Reissue Flying V in the best looking and aging color, Classic White. It sports a what is now an ULTRA rare solid natural Ebony fretboard, no dyes or gimmicks, just the absolute most luxurious fretboard wood ever used. Always reserved for only the highest end guitars from the Custom Shop, Ebony, especially this naturally solid black stuff, is almost strictly a thing of the past. Highly endangered and no longer harvested, synthetic and subpar alternatives are almost always used now. has everything you want from the perfect player- looks, sound and feel. This Classic White Flying V has an Ebony fretboard that is not only tonally and visually beautiful, but now ULTRA RARE and only used sparingly on some of the highest costing custom shop models. It exported to Japan for Yamano and has the Yamano certificate & paperwork. (If you are unfamiliar with Yamano Exports, do a quick google search, but basically they are a dealer in Japan who get and special order the BEST of the best from Gibson) It is super light weight and is in top notch playing condition.

This beauty is in pretty great all original condition with only some coo, and all authentic play-wear that includes a little bit of buckle wear on the back and a few tiny chips on the edges of the V (Please see pictures). These tiny imperfections do not impact the sound or playability of the guitar in any way, and in fact add a little mojo. You can tell that this guitar was kept well and lovingly played.  The Gibson Flying V '67 Reissue is made to recreate the famous Flying V that was used by guitar legends like Jimi Hendrix, Albert King and Michael Schenker (among many others). This guitar has that vintage vibe that just radiates cool... all it's missing is the perfect player to let her rock! It has a super fast and comfortable 60's neck profile that tapers some and is perfect in my hands. It is in the Goldielox range of not too thin and not too thick (measurements are above). The stock Gibson 496R/500T pickups actually sound killer in this guitar. Not too dark, they are actually very nice and warm with plenty of bite when driven. They deliver clear mids and plenty of snarl. It is the perfect rocker! It can deliver bone crunching riffs and blazing leads. Everything works perfectly and it has just been professionally set up with excellent playability and spot on intonation. Like all the guitars I sell, the frets are dressed, polished and look like new with plenty of life and hight left.

History of the Flying V:

The Gibson Flying V was originally introduced in 1958 as part of an effort by Ted McCarty to modernize Gibson’s reputation with futuristic designs, along with the Explorer and the only-prototyped Moderne. While a few prominent players immediately picked up the Flying V, it was not popular, and production ceased by 1959. During 1963, a few were built from leftover parts, but the two initial 1958 production batches totaled around 80 instruments.

While the design of the Gibson Flying V is radical, its construction is simple and straightforward. A two-piece Korina (really Limba wood) body (each side of the V is one piece) is paired with a Korina neck with a Rosewood fingerboard. On the original models, the standard tune-o-matic bridge was not accompanied by a stop tailpiece – the strings fed through the body from the back, like many Fender guitars, and a metal V shaped plate was mounted on the top. Initial models also had the individual volume and master tone controls mounted in a straight line, and the output jack was held on a round plate, separate from the pickguard.

When Gibson reissued the Flying V in 1966, the woods used were Gibson’s standard Mahogany, a stop tailpiece was added in place of the string-through design, the pickguard was enlarged to include the output jack, and the controls were grouped in a parallelogram rather than a straight line. It wasn’t until the rise of more aggressive styles of Rock, especially Metal genres, that the Flying V really took off. This Alpine White Gibson Flying V with nickel hardware, was made In 2001 at Gibson’s Nashville plant.

This guitar is professionally set up and dialed in for optimal tone and playability. It has low action with no buzzing or dead spots and is an absolute joy to play. It has been deep cleaned and detailed. All guitars will arrive looking and playing great. The frets have been leveled / dressed / polished and the fingerboard was cleaned. (Unfinished Rosewood and Ebony boards get treated with Fret Doctor - a proprietary all natural oil that is the best on the market) It has brand new strings, the action was adjusted, the intonation is spot on and it plays excellent. All the electronics work flawlessly.

**** We stand behind every guitar we sell and have consistently delivered quality that beats most people expectations, earning us a reputation for quality that is unrivaled.
