Great sounding vintage guitars get played... and this one has been played A LOT! ...The moment you feast your eyes on the blue hard case, you can't help but be transported back in time. This 1976 Martin D18 is nearly 48 years old and holds all the visual and sonic appeal any acoustic player could dream of... This beauty has more than a few bumps and bruises that add to the sweet vintage vibe already radiating off this guitar from every angle. It was sent to Lay's Guitar shop where Dan Shinn and his master luthiers reset the neck, fixed a crack on the bottom bout, buffed and detailed the body to expose all the former glory of this sweet acoustic. This guitar plays beautifully, is loud, resonant and projects strongly. It has really opened up over the last 47 + years and truly has a warm and pleasant vintage tone. Do not pass on the chance to make this vintage queen your go-to forever acoustic... It has just been professionally set up for optimal playability and is ready for you to take her on her next musical adventure.

History of the D18:

The Martin D-18 is one of the original dreadnoughts introduced by Martin in 1932. The D-18 made a switch from a 12-fret to a 14-fret instrument in 1934 and has stayed largely the same since. There has been an occasional change in wood source or cosmetic detail, but this acoustic legend has remained relatively true to its original form. Since the D-18 uses Mahogany instead of Rosewood, it is thought to have a somewhat crisper sound with more definition the top-end.

Features:

  • Sitka spruce top.
  • African mahogany back and sides.
  • Honduran mahogany neck.
  • Indian rosewood bridge, fingerboard, and headplate.
  • Square steel tube neck reinforcement.
  • Black Boltaron binding.
  • Boltaron rosette and purfling.
  • Micarta nut and saddle.
  • Grover Rotomatic tuners.
  • 1 11/16" nut.
  • 2 1/8" bridge spacing.
