Great Tone & Playability

Finish cloudiness and Scratches on the Top

$$ Professionally setup for optimal tone and playability...Truly Stage or Studio Ready!   (Including Fret Work, Intonation, Truss Rod and Action)

Here is an outstanding playing and sounding ARIA dreadnaught Acoustic from Japan.

The D-60 is a sweet piece with great tone woods.
Historically, ARIA began its partnership with Matsumoku in 1964, and namely, "ARIA" was called "ARAI" until 1966, then ARIA PRO II from 1975.
Estimated 1970's-1980's model. Guitar played and has the wear to prove it. It has some discoloration of the finish and a couple of dings but no breaks, repairs or playability issues of any kind. The original fine frets are in great condition. The fingerboard is very dense, and the brass pegs, very good resonance. Perfect chord playability and hold, no "buzz". Comfortable to play. Very nice sound, full and powerful.

Fairly high-end model at the time, very nice finish for the back. Handcrafted, and for connoisseurs, comparable to the K. YAIRI YW-600 model from the 70s / 80s and which sells for around 1300 US Dollars.

Rather rare copy, even in Japan and highly sought after

R.Matsuoka’s ARIA D60

This guitar was handmade at Ryoji Matsuoka’s workshop in 1976.

Ryoji Matsuoka was making terrific acoustic Arias from early through late 1970s. The very top model of that era was D200 with solid Figured Brazilian rosewood b/s, followed by D150 with solid straight grain BR b/s and D100 with solid Indian Rosewood b/s. Models D200 and D150 both had Martin D45 looks and Matsuoka vertical logo. Aria’s catalog from 1976 presents all these guitars as “Masterpieces by Ryoji Matsuoka”. All these Arias had Matsuoka (wooden) label inside. Matsuoka also made Arias DS100, DS80 and DS60, all with Torch Inlay on the headstock and snowflake positions marks. In 1979 the lowest model in Aria’s lineup was D50. In earlier years there were also models D20, D30 and D40.

Since 1975 Arias introduced new acoustic guitar lineup with Aria’s own vertical logo made by other Japanese makers. The top models in that lineup were W100 and W80 (both with Martin D45 style looks). Perhaps only W100 was “all solid woods” construction.

All Matsuoka acoustics were made basing on Martin blueprints. I won’t however call them “copies” of Martin guitars. The word “copy” suggests a product of somewhat lower quality than the “original”. This guitar can easily beat many brand-new Martin guitars.

Although it was a midrange model such vintage Aria D60 is a truly terrific instrument that beats many “all solid woods” guitars currently sold on US market for $3500+USD.

It offers immense volume and superb response. Its sound is somewhat warm yet very rich, with quite deep yet clean basses and colorful sweet trebles, all with great note clarity & separation, and all magnified by very impressive sustain. Briefly saying, this guitar as musical instrument represents much more than you can expect just by looking at it. It is truly extraordinary ordinary guitar.

Even though the top of this guitar bears several light scratches and small dents and one can feel the edges of the plastic (wedge shaped) bottom center strip (where the endpin is mounted), its overall condition can still be described "very good+ for its age". Very importantly neck is straight. Neck/body angle allows for very comfortable string action.

Specification:

Top: Solid Spruce with Martin style X bracing with not scalloped braces

Back & Sides: Brazilian Rosewood “laminates”

Neck: Mahogany with 2-way truss rod

Fingerboard: Rosewood

Nut width: 43mm

Scale: 650 mm

This guitar is professionally set up and dialed in for optimal tone and playability. It has low action with no buzzing or dead spots and is an absolute joy to play. It has been deep cleaned and detailed. All guitars will arrive looking and playing great. The frets have been leveled / dressed / polished and the fingerboard was cleaned. (Unfinished Rosewood and Ebony boards get treated with Fret Doctor - a proprietary all natural oil that is the best on the market) It has brand new strings, the action was adjusted, the intonation is spot on and it plays excellent. All the electronics work flawlessly.

Terms For Returns & Re-Stocking Fee’s

We recognize and accept a 7 day return policy as per Reverb guidelines, BUT intentions of the return must be communicated in writing within 3 day of receiving the guitar as indicated by the tracking. Unless the guitar is not as described, ORIGINAL & RETURN SHIPPING COSTS INCURRED (NOT CHARGES) WILL NOT BE REFUNDED. There is a 10% Re-stocking fee for ALL guitars that are returned for ANY reason outside of damage from shipping or it arrives significantly not as described. Please note that we record demo videos to make sure our guitars go out exactly as we describe them with zero issues. We understand that feeling comfortable is vital to the purchase of a guitar/bass so in any case, additional measurements or in hand descriptions are available prior to purchase/shipping. Thats said, guitars travel a great distance some times and in transit things can happen. Also guitars acclimate to new environments and this can cause a need for a new set up or minor adjustment. It is acceptable and normal if there is for instance a tiny bit of buzzing or the need to adjust a truss rod. We are in south Florida and if you are in a colder or less humid environment it is almost to be expected. Please read our feedback and see what our customers say. The guitar MUST BE RETURNED IN THE EXACT CONDITION it was advertised/received or it is subject to additional costs & or repair fees. We are not a big chain shop, I hope you understand. If you are uncomfortable with these terms please do not purchase. There are plenty big chain shops that can absorb free trials and shipping.
